Applications to nominate for the 2016 AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards are now open and can be completed via an online application process.
AustCham Beijing would also like to draw attention to our members in nominating an individual (who is an Australian or Chinese citizen) to the AustCham Beijing Chair who has demonstrated:
1) A long-term and successful business engagement with China/Australia at a senior level
2) A high standard of ethical behavior in business
3) Significant, consistent contribution to the broader bilateral business relationship
4) Having effected a positive influence on Australia’s profile in China as an attractive business partner or serves as a role model for Chinese investment into Australia.
The new Individual Award category was introduced in 2015 and is nominated and granted by the branch chairs of AustCham Greater China. Please note that members cannot nominate themselves for this award but can make recommendations of eligible and high achievers to the AustCham Beijing Chair.
Fortescue Metals Group Chairman, Andrew Forrest, was crowned the inaugural recipient of the Individual AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Award at last year’s the ceremony held in Hong Kong. Special guests at the ceremony included the then Australian Ambassador to China H.E. Ms Frances Adamson, as well as all Consul-Generals from across Greater China.
Andrew Whitford, Westpac’s Head of Greater China said Andrew Forrest was a very worthy recipient of the inaugural individual award. “Andrew has played a critical role in strengthening Australian China relations. He has engaged and brought together both Chinese and Australian business leaders to better understand and deepen the trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.” Mr Whitford said.
