GM of State Grid Chengdu: ensure power supply for Chengdu’s industrial development

Chu told NBD that State Grid Chengdu is fully aware of the heavy responsibility involved to ensure the power supply for economic and industrial development. Chu said that State Grid Chengdu is facing challenges and reforms and is striving to secure power supply for Chengdu’s industrial development.
On how to secure energy supply, Chu said that on one hand, State Grid Chengdu should accelerate the pace of constructing the smart power grid to guarantee sufficient power supply; on the other hand, State Grid Chengdu should simplify power supply application procedures to facilitate industrial projects for the purpose of “early launch, construction and operation.”
Chu said that State Grid Chengdu also has plans for electricity price, a top concern for consumers. Chu told NBD that Sichuan province is abundant in clean energy and has large hydropower surplus. But such surplus is seasonal. State Grid Chengdu is considering introducing wind power from northwestern China during dry seasons by applying the trading mechanism on the power market. The goal is to provide preferential price policy for enterprises.
Chu added that State Grid Chengdu also plans to boost the development of emerging industries through targeted support and differentiated supply. According to Chu, support will particularly be provided for electronic information, automobile manufacturing, food & beverage, equipment manufacturing, bio-medicine and other pillar industries and also competitive industries such as aviation, rail transportation, new material and new energy.
Chu said that State Grid Chengdu has reduced enterprises’ power expenses by a total of 1.26 billion yuan and the company will continue its effort to reduce the cost for enterprises.
