Member Introduction – Victoria Trade and Investment Chengdu Office

Victoria Government Trade and Investment Chengdu Office belongs to The Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR). DEDJTR’s purpose is to create conditions to sustainably develop the Victorian economy and raise employment.

The government created the department to bring together many of the key functions that drive economic development and job creation across Victoria. These include transport and ports, investment attraction and facilitation, trade, innovation, regional development and small business, together with key services to sectors such as agriculture, the creative industries, resources and tourism.

The Victorian Government has been actively promoting trade and investment with China for more than 100 years and established our first office in China (Puxi, Shanghai) in 1906. Today Victoria has the world’s largest provincial level network of trade and investment offices in China including offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and Hong Kong.

The bilateral relations between Vitoria and China are constantly consolidating and strengthening. The State of Victoria has concluded friendly relations with Jiangsu province more than 10 years. Sichuan and The State of Victoria also established a friendly sister-province in 2016. In addition, Melbourne and Tianjin have already established friendly city relations.
