Welcome from Consul-General Christopher Lim

Greetings. I am deeply honoured to be the new Australian Consul-General in Chengdu. I arrived in mid-January and have been highly impressed by southwest China, with its friendly people, dynamic economy, remarkable history and stunning natural beauty.

As I start my posting, I am conscious that we are still a relatively new Consulate-General, being just over three years old. I hope to build on the strong foundation set by my predecessor Nancy Gordon and continue expanding and deepening our efforts in bringing Australia and southwest China closer together. I am keen to connect businesses from both sides with opportunities that both our economies offer.

The Consulate-General promotes Australia’s interests in southwest China, and also has a role in raising awareness among Australians of this important region. In this regard, I would like to work with you to build cultural and people-to-people links.

In the weeks and months to come, I hope to be able to meet as many of you as possible to discuss how we build a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between Australia and southwest China.
