AustCham’s 2016 Australian Visa Update

EVENT POSTPONED UNTIL TUESDAY 24TH MAY, 4:30PM – 6:00PM

Visa acquisition arrangements are a complex integral part of Australia-China relations, yet it’s common knowledge that the processes are often non intuitive to navigate and in a state of flux. In response, AustCham Beijing and the Australian Embassy are holding an essential overarching information session on the visa arrangements for Chinese visitors travelling to Australia.

Michael Willard, Minister Counsellor (Immigration) and Regional Director – East Asia of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, will provide insights to the AustCham community into the various visa types, processing times and other relevant visa related matters.

The Australian Government currently processes tourist and business visa streams efficiently, with 87.6% of Visitor visa applications received within 5 working days, and 93.3% of applications within 10 working days. Applicants are not required to attend an interview and documentary requirements have increasingly been reduced to make the application process easier, faster and more efficient. In 2016, the Australian Government will be implementing even more efficient processes for Chinese Visitor visa applicants.

During a dynamic period for Chinese investment in Australia and Chinese visitors in Australia, AustCham Beijing’s Visa Information Session will strip back the complexities and act as a concise forum, providing an essential opportunity for members who want greater clarity when it comes to visa processes.
