On the 29th<\/sup> June, AustCham along with the American, European, French, British, Benelux Chambers of Commerce, the China Britain Business Council, and KPMG hosted a briefing of KMPG\u2019s Global CEO Outlook<\/em> 2016<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mr John B. Veihmeyer, Chairman of KPMG International and Mr Honson To, Chairman of KPMG China, shared the findings of KPMG\u2019s Global CEO Outlook\u00a02016<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Global CEO Outlook<\/em>, a study which surveyed more than 1,200 CEOs, including more than 100 CEOs from China headquartered companies, provided some interesting insights into CEO expectations for future growth, anticipated challenges and strategies to ensure organizational success over the next 3 years.<\/p>\n

As global businesses navigate a period of slower growth in China, three key concerns arose from KPMG\u2019s Global CEO Outlook 2016: fostering innovation, improving an enterprise\u2019s ability to \u201cknow the customer\u201d and enhance talent management.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, in KPMG\u2019s China Outlook<\/em>, introduced by Mr Honson To (Chairman of KPMG International), CEOs of Chinese headquartered companies acknowledged much higher levels of expected company growth and confidence levels in the changing business environment, when compared to their global peers. 46 percent of China CEOS predicted 5 percent or greater growth over the 3 year period, when compared with 21 percent of their global respondents.<\/p>\n

After the discussion of KPMG\u2019s 2016 China Outlook,<\/em> Mr David Frey (Partner, Markets Stategy, KPMG China) moderated a panel discussion with distinguished guests: Mr Bruce Schleuter (President, Westinghouse China), Mr Gianluca Pettiti (President, Thermo Fisher Scientific China), Mr Bernie Stefan (Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Nestle Greater China Region) and Mr David Chen (Vice President and General Manager, Corporate and Legal Affairs, Microsoft Greater China Region).<\/p>\n

The panel discussed the importance of localization and innovation to ensure products would remain relevant in the changing environment. The balance of domestic and international talent was also raised, with many Chinese and international firms looking to entice foreign nationals at executive levels with valuable experience. Mr Gianluca Pettiti further suggested the need for greater diversity in the recruitment process with people of different ages and relevant skillsets.<\/p>\n

This event concluded as an undoubted success, giving audience members an exciting opportunity to learn from KPMG\u2019s Global CEO Outlook\u2019s<\/em> findings, and hear from Managers directly regarding the points raised in the briefing.<\/p>\n

The study gauges the three-year outlook of more than 1,200 CEOs from some of the largest companies, including more than 100 CEOs from China-headquartered companies, on a range of issues including mergers and acquisitions, customer growth, cyber security, innovation, cognitive computing and talent gaps. The report provides a vivid image of global CEOs\u2019 expectations for business growth, the challenges they face and their strategies to chart organizational success over the next 3 years.<\/p>\n

KPMG\u2019s Global CEO Outlook 2016<\/em>\u00a0identifies three key themes on the minds of China CEOs as they prepare to steer their companies through a period of slower growth in China: fostering innovation, improving an enterprise\u2019s ability to \u201cknow the customer\u201d, and enhancing talent management.\u00a0\u00a0 How do enterprises around the world create linkages between \u201cinnovation\u201d and enhanced business results?\u00a0 How can we really \u201cknow the customer\u201d better in China when the customer mind-set is changing seemingly every day?\u00a0 What global insights in capability building and talent management are most relevant for China-based enterprises?\u00a0 What can global CEOs learn from China, and what lessons should China-based CEOs apply from global markets?\u00a0 These are some of the questions that will be explored in a dynamic and interactive panel discussion with senior executives from major MNCs operating in China.<\/p>\n
